I became interested in IBD in medical school when I saw how a new treatment, infliximab, could completely transform patients’ lives.

As a team we are involved in a lot of research into what causes the disease and how we can use this knowledge to find better treatments. We could not deliver good IBD care without every member of our multidisciplinary team. We look after patients during a flare, but IBD can affect every part of a person’s life, so I have started a clinic for patients who are pregnant or planning pregnancy. We also run several bowel ultrasound clinics which help us assess disease activity more quickly.
